JCPenney aims to replace Martha Stewart

Off the bed, Martha — and make room for Liz.

JCPenney is laying plans to replace Martha Stewart-designed bedding and bath linens with a slew of store brands in🧸cluding Liz Claiborne, even as it faces a judge Wednesday over its controversial contract with the domestic diva, sources told The Post.

As reported by The Post Sept. 4, Penney CEO Mike Ullman has already moved to dump a line of Stewart-designed home goods produced under a 10-year, $200 million licensing deal cut in Decembe💮r 2011 by former Penney CEO Ron Johnson.

Ullman is ditching the line, insiders said, ꩲbecause of poor sales and lackluster designs stripped of Stewart’s name amid a legal challenge from Macy’s.

Penney’s move to ditch the diva comes despite the fact that the fate of the c🌼ontract hasn’t yet technically been decided by Manhattan state court judge Jeffrey Oing.

Earlier this year, Oing heard six weeks of testimony from witn🔯e🥃sses, including Stewart herself, after Macy’s sued to block the Penney line, citing its own preexisting home-goods pact with Stewart.

Last week, Oing ordered lawyers to reconvene at a hearing Wednesday to ask them about The Post’s exclusive report, saying it could affect 💞his decision in the case,🎃 sources said.

“It’s possible Oing is looking for a reason to ru▨le against JCPenney, and at this point JCPenney actually might not object to that,” a legal source speculated.

Oing declined to comment throu🎀gh a spokesman yesterday. A Martha Stewart rep also declined comment, and💙 Penney didn’t respond to a request for comment.
