Boomer Esiasoź§n isnāt shying away froź§m Lawrence Taylorās media blitz.
The WFAN host and former Jets quarterback quickly fired back at the Giants linebacker, who called Esiason a ād—headā Tuesday in a profanity-laced radio interview on a Miamiās 640 WMEN radio.
āI donāt back down on anything that I said,ā
āIā tried to be as understanding and as supportive of the addictions that he had, and recognize ā because of my time with Stanley Wilson in Cincinnati ź¦°ā that people in that situation arenāt who they really are. They just arenāt. Theyāre taken over by the drug.ā
Esiason was one of the interviewees in the Showtime documentary on Taylorās life ā āLT: The Life & Timesā ā that premiered lš ast Friday night. Esiason said Tź§aylor was unjustly given preferential treatment by former Giants coach Bill Parcells despite his troublesome lifestyle.
āWhat the hell you got Boomer Esiason on something that ā a piece you do of me? We canāt stand each other, he donāt know a f–k about me. What the hellās he doing on it?ā Taylor told Sid Rosenberg of 640 WMEN radio.
āFirst of all, Boomerās a d—head,ā Taylor added. āHey, listen. I remember when he was there running the streets, screwing all kind of hoes. Donāt give me that holier than thou s–t. I donāt wanna hear that s–t. ā¦ He gets off on it. Heās still talking about me. I aināt talking about him.ā
Esiaš°son said the dispute between him and Taylor is not personal, but Esiason said his biggest beef is Tayź§lor taking shots at Bill Parcells and the Giants franchise in his book.
āThe only thing about where LT is wrong is I donāt hate LT,ā Esiason said. āHe may think I hate him. I donāt hate him. And what I do hate, is I hate the fact that he wrote the book, and ą¦he basically trashed the Giants, [Bill] Parcells, [Bill] Belichick and everything else.ā
Esiason similarly slammedź¦ Taylor when ā60 Minutesā profiled the Giants great nearly a decadeą² ago, leading to a similar disagreement between the two former MVPs.
āNever did I think I would see [d—head] actually next to my name in a newspaper, but thatās just the way it works ā the slings and arrows that we all have to endure in the business in which we work. Iāve been down this road 10 years ago, and Iām down it again. Itās unfortunate,ā Esiason said.
