She outfoxed them!
A clever female fox is on the run after escaping from the Staten Island Zoo by burrowing out of her enclo♓sure, zoo sources said.
Montana, a frisky eight month-o🐻ld red fox, went missing on Monday at 5 p.m. and could be hiding out neighborhoods near the zoo.
“We searched our property, about eight acres and couldn’t find her anywhere. Our next assumption is she went for a walk and is out in the community,” said Brian Morris, a spokesman for the Staten Island Zoo.
“We gave police a picture of her — so they know what to look for,” Morris said.
“She’s wanted!” he said.
Montana, who was name𒉰d after the state was rescued in, is roughly the size of a cat, has a reddish-brown fur and a little ball of white fur on the end of her tail.
She has been vaccinated and is not lꦆikely a threat to humans – and zoo staffers are m🔯ore concerned with her safety.
“She’s not very familiar with cars or streets, so we’re a little worried,” Morris said.
The fox was rescueꦺd as a three-week old after her mom died in a trap in the West Yellowstone area.
Anyone who sees her should♌ call the zoo at 718-442-3101.
