US soldier killed, 4 others wounded in ‘enemy attack’ in Somalia

R🌊ebels killed a U.S. Special Operations soldier and wounded four others in Somalia.

The name of the fallen soldier will be released after family is noti👍fied. The wounded were treated and released in Kenya, the military said Saturd♌ay.

U.S. forces were providing assistance and aerial surveillance for Somali and Kenyan forces during a mission in Jubaland, Somalia, about 220 miles west of the capital Mogadishu when Friday’s attack occurred. The mission was aimed at ridding the region of terrorists linked to al-Qaeda along with its Somalia-based associates, al-Shabab, and the local branch of ISIS.

“Simply put, we’re working to prevent atrocious acts before they come to fruition,” Gen. Thomas Waldhauser, the head of the U.S. Africa Comma🍸nd, said in a statement.

President Trump tweeted condolences 🅘late Friday night fr💙om the G-7 Summit in Canada. “My thoughts and prayers are with the families of our serviceman who was killed and his fellow servicemen who were wounded in Somalia. They are truly all HEROES.”
