This rare flower is making NYC stink even more this summer

It’s a smell that’s to die for.

A corpse flower, one of the world’s largest and rarest flowers, finally bloomed this week at the New York Botanical Garden in The Bronx after years of anticipatio💮n — and you better hurry if you want to catch a whiff of its funky, foul stench, because the plant can close back up at any time.

Dubbed Amorphophallus Titanum, the corpse flower gets its nickname from its fleshy appearance and noxious odor, whic💞h is similar to rotting meat when in full bloom.

The unpredictable plant typically takes ab💜out seven to 10 years for it to gather the energy it needs to open up. The one that bloomed on Tuesday night needed 11, accordi𝕴ng to NYBG officials.
