Former Queens teacher faces a dozen sexual abuse lawsuits

A former teacher and administrator at a church-run school is fa🃏cing 12 lawsuits alleging✅ he sexually abused young boys beginning in the 1970s and continuing for more than a decade.

The latest in the spate of suits against Lawrence Svrcek was filed in Queens State Supreme Court. It alleges that he molested a victim identified only by the initials S.G. beginning in 1984 when the student attended Jamaica Day School, which was run by St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church.

Svrcek, 74, was a gym teacher, ൩🔯coach and later vice principal of the school. He was also a Boy Scout leader.

The NYPD and the Queens DA’s office said they could not comment on any pending probes.

Lambros Lambrou, a lawyer🌃 representing six of the victims, said he believed there would b🔯e more cases.

Neither Svrcek, who lives on Long Island, nor h🔯is lawyer retur🅰ned requests for comment.

The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, which is also named as a defendant in the suits, would not comment on specific allegations other than to say “we abhor the sexual abuse of children and take allegations of such conduct very seriously.”
