$14K worth of goods stolen from an apartment after fatal NYC fire

An opportunistic burglar stole $14,000 worth of belongings — including wedding rings and electronics — from a Bronx apartment after a fire tore through the building, killing ꧅a 6-year-old boy, police sourcꦜes said Sunday.

Alberto Revilla, 38, said the cold-hearted thief ransacked his 20th-floor apartment inside NYCHA’s Mitchel Houses Friday night — a crime he watched unfold on his cell phone while on his way to spend the night at a hotel.

“I was around the corner on my way t🌃o the hotel when I saw it on my phone,” Revilla said, referring to the ꧃footage from a security camera set up inside his apartment.

“I showed it to the officers, I showed them the live feed. I said, ‘Let’s go, let’𝔉s go now.’ They hesitated. They said⛄ it was impossible because there were officers on the floor but there wasn’t.”

He said once police officers finally went to his apartment, the burglar was gone. His door wa𒅌s open because the FDNY busted the lock, he said.

“They took electronics, my wife’s wedding rings, my daughter’s iPad, Nintendo Switch,” Revilla said, referring to his wife’s engagement and wedding rings.

“This is disgraceful,” he added. “How is that possible? We donﷺ’t know what to do.”

Revilla and others were forced out of their homes in wake of the blaze, which broke out around 5:20 p.m. Friday killing Aiden Hayward, 6, and leaving the boy’s 32-year-old father in critical condition.

Theꦍ p𒀰air was found unconscious in a hallway on the 19th floor of the building.

The fire, which may be linked to a broken trash compactor, also killed Revilla’s 2 1/2-year-old mixed Maltese named Loki.

“I ♌lost my dog, I lost my valuables, I lost my apartment — everything that makes up my family,” Revilla said.

Poli🍸ce sources s🌊aid multiple calls about a burglary were made to 911 soon after residents cleared out of the smoldering building on East 135th Street.

“After the fire, someone went in and burglarized the pla📖ce,” a police source said. “Nothing like having your house burned out and then your stuff stolen.”

The source said about $14,000 wor⛦th of electronics and jewelry were swiped🌊.

The cause of the fiܫre w🍌as still unknown Sunday morning, cops said.

Aiden, who suffered smoke inhalation, was taken to Har🍌lem Hospital but c🦩ould not be saved. His father, who also suffered smoke inhalation, was clinging to life at the same hospital, police said.

His neighܫbors also fumed over the ♔alleged burglary.

“The smoke was so thick, I couldn’t come back to get my cat,” said Arleen Washington, 59, whose cat Harmony also died from smoke inhalatio🤪n. “When we got out of here, we left our door open. We were lucky no one took anything. What kind of person does that — goes into your house after a fire and steals something? It’s really scary.”

Coleen McCourt, 61, said the theft was “a d🦋amn shame.”

“People just died now, and you’re robbing people,” she said. “You’ve got no morals. You don’t give a crap about nobody.”

Investigators still didn’t know the cause ꦬof the fire🃏 Sunday, cops said.

Some residents blamed a broken trash compac🐼tor — which appeared to have been ripped out of the wall, leaving an uncovered open space in the hallway — for sparking the blaze.
