SAMURAI SLAYING TRIAL TWIST

The lawyer for a Long Island teenager accused of butchering his stepdad with a samurai sword suggested yesterday his client’s mother may have been responsible for the horrific slaying.

In opening statements at 19-year-old Zachary Gibian’s murder trial, lawyer William Keahon conceded Gibian was inside the family’s Hauppauge home when retired NYPD cop Scott Nager, 51, was killed in February 2005.

But he hintedꦦ that Laura Nager could have easily done the deadly deed.

“There are only two people in the house – Zach and his mother,” Keahon told Suffolk County jurors in Riverhead.

Assistant DA John Prudenti has promised to show writte🏅n and videotaped confessions from Gibian, who stands accused of killing Nager with two vicious sword swings to the neck, severing the spine.

“That’s how brutal, how savage this attack was,” said Prudenti, who repeatedly pointed at Gibian and called him a “murderer.”
