Pipe down, Rick

Good heavens. Rick Lazio says Mon day’s gubernatorial debate fell short of a “serious” discussion of “the fundamental problems facing the state.”

You remember Lazio, the GOP designee for governor who lost the prize to 🦩Carl Paladino in the Septemꦬber primary.

His contribution to a “serious” discussion during that campaign consisted essentially of three words:

Ground. Zero. Mosque.

The rest of the time, he napped.

As a result, the manifestly unstable Paladino had a cakewalk on the way to becoming a millstone around the neck of New York’s Republican Party.

Now Lazio says the mosque is “an issue, but the bigger issue was obviously the economy.”

No fooling.

It’s not clear that Lazio would have beaten Paladino had he run a credible campaign. But he didn’t, and thus forfeited any claim on criticizing what came afterward.

Lazio needs to do his par♌ty and his state a𒁃 favor and keep his late-to-the-table advice to himself.
