Did those weekend plans to hang with your pal Charlie Sheen fall through, too? Find your drama elsewhere on the dial:
“Brothers and Sisters” (Sunday, 10 p.m., ABC) If you’re tired of sitting through those uncomfortable, alcohol-fueled award speeches on the Golden Globes, visit the Walker clan, who welcomes back Balthazar Getty as eldest son Tommy. Tommy, who was always a bit of a downer for Mama’s taste, disappeared from the canvas last season, and returns with a new girlfriend — unlike Getty, who reunited with his wife after his very-public affair.
“The Cape” (Monday, 9 p.m., NBC) Those who were hoping for this superhero tale to add a new dynamic to the swelling comic-based series genre obviously have not watched much of NBC’s programming as of late. The motley circus crew that trains the framed former cop was the highlight of the two-hour premiere that at the very least should be praised for returning “Firefly”/”Terminator’s” Summer Glau and “The West Wing’s” Richard Schiff to serial dramas. Mama’s willing to forgive the bloated two-hour premiere if it can pack the same amount of action into its regular one-hour slot.
“Hawaii Five-0” (Monday, 10 p.m., CBS) Daniel Dae Kim may get to show off his romantic side as Chin reunites with his ex-fiance played by Reiko Aylesworth, best known as Michelle from “24” but who lived back in the ’70s with Kim’s Jin during his “Lost” days. Also, Mama is just curious, but is there really a rainbow every day in Hawaii, as indicated in this series? Seriously, Mama’s never been to the islands, so if somebody knows, please tell me.
“Life Unexpected” (Tuesday, 8 p.m., The CW) The underrated teen drama bids adieu to Lux and her family in the two-hour finale. The only good that can come from this is the lovely Bitt Robertson nabbing a role that provides her a series that actually makes it to the end of its second season.
“Spartacus: Gods of the Arena” (Friday, Jan. 21, 10 p.m., Starz) Mama misses star Andy Whitfield, who’s absent from this prequel as he battles non-Hodgkin lymphoma, but it is nice to welcome back the rest of the “Spartacus” cast with all their heads still intact. Plus, there’s always the allure of lesbian love with Lucy Lawless.
