Giants center Shaun O’Hara played in six games this past season, missing 10 games because of injuries to his left ankle and Achilles and right foot. The veteran knew he needed some work to fix both problems and that work is underway.
On Wednesday, O’Hara has a screw inserted into his right foot to help stabilize the Lisfranc mid-foot sprain that surfaced during the season. In a few weeks, he will have his left ankle cleaned out to rid him of a bone chip that lodged in his Achilles tendon. O’Hara was bothered by problems with the ankle as far back as summer training camp. Rest somewhat helped alleviate the discomfort in his ankle but it flared up as soon as he began playing again.
O’Hara, who turns 34 in June, said immediately following the season that he wanted to get his physical issues attended to as quickly as possible in order for him to get back on the field for the start of football activity in the spring.
