Five people were hospitalized today after an out-of-control SUV jumped a curb in Brooklyn, authorities said.
A GMC Yukon traveling westbound on 15th Street in Park Slope at around 4 p.m. sideswiped a car, took out a bus stop and then barreled through the intersection of Eighth Avenue, striking four pedestrians standing on the corner, according to witnesses and fire officials.
“It looked bad,” said Shadi Sarsor, 32, who owns Royal Supermarket across the street from the crash. “They were on the ground.”
The GMC screeched to a halt alongside a traffic signal after its front left wheel snapped off. The driver’s side of the truck was completely mangled in the wreck.
The wounded pedestrians, as well as the driver, were taken to area hospitals to be treated for minor injuries. Three were rushed to Methodist Hospital while two were transported to Lutheran Hospital.
Police said there was no criminality.
