Espada’s payday Mayday

Pity poor Pedro Espada.

The former state senator indicted on federal charges of looting his Bronx health-care clinics is sniveling that he can’t make a living.

Espada — who lives in an $800,000 Westchester house with a swimming pool and drives a $95,000 Mercedes — recently asked a judge to allow taxpayer Medicaid dollars to pay his six-figure salary as head of the Soundview Healthcare Network.

The clinics are allowed to accept Medicaid patients, but no Medicaid money can be used to pay salaries for Espada and his son, Pedro Gautier Espada, according to the January ruling by the state Medicaid inspector general.

Last week a black 2010 Mercedes sedan — a leased car provided by Soundview, the AG alleges — was parked in the driveway, an unauthorized State Police “official business” parking placard in windshield.
