‘Terriers’ creators Kickstart movie

Shawn Ryan, who created the short-lived “Terriers,” is thinking of reviving the FX series as a two-hour TV movie — and using Internet funding source Kickstarter for financing.

“I’ve had friends who’ve raised money for indie movies through Kickstarter and I started to think that if you wanted to make a two-hour movie that capped off that series, how much would it cost to make it, and would there be a way to raise the money via a combination of Netflix and Kickstarter,” Ryan told TBI Vision.

Ryan, who also created FX’s “The Shield” and ABC’s “The Last Resort” — and is working on Eddie Murphy’s “Beverly Hills Cop” reboot for CBS — says that although he’d like to see “Terriers” revived, it might be a tough sell.

“Not to throw cold water on it folks, but reports of a ‘Terriers’ movie revival are incredibly premature and would be very difficult to pull off,” Ryan tweeted.

“Would I like a ‘Terriers’ movie revival to happen? Of course. Will I look into it? Yes. Are obstacles immense? Yes.”

“Terriers,” which aired on FX in the fall of 2010, revolved around an ex-cop (Donal Logue) who teams with his former friend, an ex-con (Michael Raymond-James), to form an unlicensed detective agency.
