JETS (-2) over Dolphins: While most outside of the New York area are throwing the Jets under the bus, I realize the value of playing on them. First, they traveled to Miami and won the game earlier this year and now they return home with the same line. Second, the Jets have four losses this season, but they have faced the third toughest schedule. It’s certainly no embarrassment to lose to teams that all went to the playoffs last year and finished with a combined 48-16 record. Lastly, you have the better team looking up in the standings that has beaten its two other opponents that are currently at .500 by a combined 83-37!
EAGLES (-2 ) over Atlanta: Desperation faces ‘fat and happy.’ The Eagles know a loss here potentially could put them 3 1/2 games behind in the NFC East. The Falcons meanwhile are already four full games up in the NFC South. Too many fans perceive a team’s record as the measurement of how good a team is but let me show you otherwise. The Eagles have outgained their foes by 48 ypg vs the No. 16 16 schedule while the Falcons have been outgained by 6 ypg versus the No. 29 schedule. Add into the mix Andy Reid has won 13 straight following a bye week and the NFL’s final undefeated team goes down.
