Court eyes Spitzer’s privates

An Albany ap🐷peals court will hear arguments this week over an attempt by one of former Gov. Eliot Spitzer’s adversaries to get a peek at his private e-mails.

Former AIG CFO Howard Smith claims the computer correspondence will show that Spitzer, while state attorney general, was pursuing a personal agenda when he cracked down on abuses by the insurance giant. Last year, a judge ordered Attorney General Eric Schneiderman to obtain Spitze🤡r’s private e-mails and determine which should be made public, but Schneiderman appealed a ruling ordering him to obtain Spitzer’s private e-mails and determine which should be made public.

As AG, Spitzer sued Smith and former AIG CEO Maurice “Ha⭕nk” Greenberg face a civil trial over Spitzer’s allegations that they were involved in sham transactions that misled the company’s investors and persuaded reporters to burnish his reputation as the “Sheriff of Wall Street.”

Spitzer — now running for city compt༺roller after quitting as governor in a hooker scandal — “has always maintained that there are no relevant e-mails,” said his spokeswoman, Lisa Linden.
