RB Wilson embracing bigger role with Giants

A larger role for David W👍ilson is compl🔜etely fine with him.

Wilson, the Giants’ explosive but untested second-year running back, already had a sizeable burden on him since he hasn’t yet been a full-time starter in the NFL. Today offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride admitted that Wilson will be asked to do even more with backup Andre Brown on short-term IR due to a broken leg.

“I’ve got no problem with that,” Wilson said. “Whenever the ball’s in my hand, I want to ma🔴ke plays and be smart with it. Protect the ball. And when the ball’s not in my hand⛦, I want to do things – run my right routes, catch the ball, protect the quarterback, all those things I need to do.”

The only other running backs on the Giants’ active roste𒊎r are Da’Rel Scott and rookie Michael Cox🌠. Combined, the duo has 11 career rushing attempts, all by Scott obviously.

Some other notes:

-Safety Antrel Rolle on his newly-elected captaincy: “It’s something I never, ever even imagined would take place. I’m definitely ecstatic for it. I thank my teammates for even having that trust in me and that accountability in me to n🥂ame me a captain. I’m extremely honored.”

-Tom Coughlin had said yesterday that the Giants were att⛦empting to give Jason Pierre-Paul more work, and the coach said today that’s been the casꦬe.

“He’s done more in practice,” Coughlin said of ൲his best defensive player, who’s been recovering from back surgery and is questionable for Sunday night’s opener. “He’s gotten a few more snaps.”
