Jeter’s latest injury might just be a scare — or not

So, is Derek Jeter OK or not?

Jeter was removed from Saturday’s 13-9 loss to the Red Sox and had a CT scan perꦓformed on his surgically repaired left ankle.

The Yankees announced the scan came back negative, but the results were also sent to Dr.𒈔ܫ Robert Anderson, who performed Jeter’s surgery in October.

The negative result doesn’t me🍷an the Yankees captain is ready to rejoin the lineup, how💞ever.

“Whether hꦅe’s a player or not [Sunday], I don’t know yet,” general manager Brian Cashman sai🔯d.

Manager Joe Girardi made the decision to pull Jeter because he didn’t likeꦜ the way he ran to first on a sixth-inning RBI single single.

“He ๊just didn’t look like he was comfortable,” Girardi said. “Is there concern? Yeah, there’s concern on my part.”

The normally hard-headed Jet🀅er didn’t fight Girardi.

“He didn’t꧃ say much,” Girardi said. “Any time yꦓou take him out, it has not been a good sign lately.”

Cashman said Jeter, who was 5-for-32 on the Yankees’ current homes🍃tand before Saturday’s RBI single, has been playing with soreness in his problematic ankle and everyone wanted to make sure it h💙ad no structural damage.

“I think the leg is stuff he still deals with,” Cashman said. “Trying to play every day in a pennant race, if these games didn’t count he could take a few days off. His bounce-back would be different. He’ꦏs like everybody else. He knows there’s no time for the weary.”

In the loss to Boston, Jeter went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a strikeout, but his movement appeared shaky in the field and on the bases. He also threw well wide of first baseman Lyle Overbay on a Jonny Gomes groundꦛer in the six🔜th, though it was scored a hit.

“Do I think, personally, that the leg affected t♛he throw?ꦇ” Cashman said. “I do.”

It has🃏 been a frustrating season for the 39-year-old, who has described it as a “nightmare.” This would be Jeter’s fourth injury — the previous three have cost him 125 of the Yankees’ 142 games.

Jeter began the season on th▨e disabled list after fracturing his left ankle in the AL Championship Series. A second fracture was dis👍covered in April, likely suffered while he was playing games in spring training.

Jeter made his return to the Yankees lineup June 11, but suffered a strained right quadriceps while running the bases. He🍒 went back on the DL and didn’t rejoin the team until July 28. He appeared in four games before a right calf strain sent him to the DL again, which kept him out until his return on Aug. 26 in Toronto. He had managed to remain on the field until this latest setback, appearing in 12 games as the Yankees clawed their way back into the wild-car🐼d race.

“Obviously he’s been through a lot this year,” Cashman said. “Joe didn’t like the way h💙e was running around the🌳re and [Jeter] obviously is never very forthcoming with anything on that type of stuff.”
