Assad on slaughter: Who, me?

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad claims he had nothing🌺 to do with chemical-weapon attacks.

In a recent interview in Syria with Charlie Rose — parts of which air Monday — Assad “denied that he knew, in fact, that there waꦐs a chemical attack, not൲withstanding what has been said, and notwithstanding the videotape,” .

President Obama is pressing Congress to approve missile strikes against Assad’s governmen🔯t to punish him for an Aug. 21 sarin gas attack on𒐪 civilians near Damascus.

Assad told Rose he did not know if the United States would attack, but said his 🅘country had “prepared as best we can.”

“He was calm. He knew the situation he was in,” Rose said. “But there’s a clear sense they are closely watching what is happening in Washꦫington.

“He had a message to the American people that it had not been a good experience for them to get🌺 involved in the Middle East.’’
