Confidence is key at Hood By Air

The Who:

Kanye West was there, and the media hoopla surroundin🐽g him made it hard to recognize anyone else. J.R. Smith was spied too though, thanks in part to his arrival right before showtime and the two bling-y gold chains he 💖wore.

The What:

The first look — a red button-down emblazoned with “69” and a pair of black slacks — suggested that the collection would be more restrained than the line’s previous threads. That wasn’t the case at all. Tops were elongated in the back with wide detachable pieces of fabric, and men went down the runway wearing garments best describes as shirt dresses. Zippers were everywhere; on the front of collared shirts, circulating jacket sleeves and on strips of fabric that swung over shorts. Several models wore sky-high Nikes that looked like a cross between high tops and moon boots, and a few donned even more eye catching designs, like separates ornamented with quilted tubes.

The Highlight:

Buzzworthy pieces were plentiful, but given the recent talk about fashion’s lack of diversity, the pinnacle was perhaps seeing it here in droves, both on and off the runway.

The Takeaway:

These are cloth🎃e♕s best worn with confidence. Say, the confidence of Kanye West.
