Off-duty cop nabs gun-toting robber in Chinatown

An off-duty NYPD cop nabbed a gun-toting robber after he heard shouts of 🦩“Robbery! Robbery!” in Cantonese, police said.

Detective Patrickജ Lee, who is of Chinese descent, was near Canal Diamonds in Chinatown at around 4:20 p.m. Tuesday when he heard the screams, accordiﷺng to police.

The 14-year veteran ran into the store, which is at Canal and Elizabeth streets just a half block from the Fifth Precinct station, and saw Eduardo Olmedo, 25, wi🌠th a .40-caliber Glock in one hand and 18 gold chains in the other, authorities said.

Lee, 41, drew his gun and identified himself as a💖 cop before ordering Olmedo😼 to drop his weapon and get down on the ground, police said.

Olmedo complied and was arrested, with no injuries reported or s🐠hots fired, police said.

Olmedo, who hails from Mexico and claims to be homeles꧒s, was charged with robbery and criminal pos🐼session of a weapon.

⛎S🌜ources said this is Olmedo’s first arrest in New York, although he may have priors elsewhere.
