The head of emergency management services at Citi Field tried to breathe new📖 life into his home f📖inances by stealing $300,000 from the Queens not-for-profit ambulance corps that serves the stadium, the AG’s office charged Thursday.
Rascally resuscitator Daniel Dominguez, 37, blew the money on luxury car services, theater tickets, fancy meals and trav🍬el to Disney World, Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said.
Dominguez, of North Bergen, NJ, is charged with grand larceny for aꦫllegedly tr🎐ansferring the money out of the bank accounts of the Corona Community Volunteer Ambulance Corps, where he also served as treasurer.
He was arrested at the stadium Thursday morning, and intends to ‘fess up to the theft, his lawyer, Angelo McDonald, said at his arraignmen📖t at Queens Crim🤡inal Court.
He is free on $15,000 cash bail set byꦕ Judge Gia Morris.
“I’m c♊onfident this case will result in a guilty plea and the most he will receive is five years probation,” Dominguez’s lawyer said.
The top grand larceny charge against Dominguez carries a possible maximum prison sentence of between 𝓰five🐠 and 15 years.
Two of Dominguez’s fell✱ow board members were also pilfering the ambulance account, though in far lower amounts, authoriti𓂃es said.
Board president David Moretti, 41, took more than $11,000 between Sept♏ember 2008 and May 2011, and board member Daryl Adeva, 31, took $8,960, the AG’s offic🐼e said.
The💃♔ alleged heists were uncovered by other board members, who noticed the suspicious wire transfers, credit card purchases and cash withdrawals and notified authorities.
“These emergency medical technicians, who were entrusted with providing medica𝕴l services and transportation for New York residents, instead took advantage of their positions and used a not-for-profit ambulance corps as their own personal piggy bank,” Attorney General Schneiderman said. “My office wiꦅll continue to weed out theft and fraud in charitable organizations and prosecute criminals who take advantage of the public’s trust.”
