MTA files suit to displace businesses for 2nd Ave. subway

The MTA has filed a lawsuit in Manhattan seeking to displace two businesses at a ritzy Upper East Side co-op building for c⛄onstruction of the Second Avenue subway.

“It’s been a nightmare. They’ve been clo💞bbered,” said Kirk Tzanides, an attorney for MacArthur Properties which own൲s six commercial spaces at 301 E. 69th St.

Tzanides🧜 is trying꧋ to negotiate with the MTA ahead of a Feb. 8 hearing on the issue.

🦹The transit agency wants to evict Crest Cleaners and the building’s parking garage through eminent domain to work 🤪on the 72nd station entrance for several weeks, the MTA suit says.

The MTA also wan☂ts access to the co-oᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚp’s basement and two vacant storefronts.

An MTA spokesman said the easement will be only temporary, and owners wil🍌l be compensated. He wouldꦡ not disclose dollar amounts.

The suit says the seizures will last n♎o more than two years.

“It’s a big problem,” he said. “Even temporarily they vacate me, I have a responsibility for paying rent ꦑand everything.”
