‘Strain’ worms its way into a second season

‘The Strain” is set to in🧸fect viewers for another summer.

FX has ren✃ewed the grisly drama for a 13-episode secꦏond season, which will premiere next year.

The Sunda𓂃y night drama from co-creator Guillermo del Toro and executive producer Carlton Cuse (“Lost”) is averaging 4.5 million viewers in its first season — 11 million weekly viewers when delayed VOD and online𝓡 viewing are included.

“The Strain” is based on the book ꦇseries by del Toro and Chuck Hogan, and stars Corey Stoll (“House of Cards”) as Dr. Ephraim Goodweather, the head 🌄of the Centers for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City that fights a virus with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism.

The series has seven episodes remaining in its first season, which airs its🧜 finale on Oct. 5.
