Maybe Ron Johnson finally gets it: Retail storeą¹s just arenāt his thing.
The former JCPenney CEO ā who was booted last year following a disastrous overhaul attemptā that left the department store crippled ā is launching āa high-end, on-demand delivery service for gadgets,ā tech news site The Information reported.
Johnson, a former Target exec who previously had heālped Steve Jobs build Appleās retail stores, including its Genius Bars, has kept a low profile since his April 201šÆ3 ouster from Penney.
Johnsonās moves to reinvent Penney, which included banishing coupons in fź¦Æavor of flat pricing, resulted in a 25 percent sales drop in 2012 that spurred a $1 billion loss anād tens of thousands of layoffs.
