1. The Good Wife

Sunday, 9 p.m., CBS

Cary’s (Matt Czuchry) freedom lies in the hands of his pretrial service officer, J𝓰oy Grubick (Linda Lavin), as she interviews his colleagues to determine whether or not he should re♌main behind bars. Meanwhile, Alicia (Julianna Margulies, far left) and Dean (Taye Diggs, left) find themselves in unfamiliar territory when a client’s case ends up in something called Christian Arbitration. The yummy guest cast includes Robert Sean Leonard.

2. Homeland

Sunday, 9-11 p.m., Showtime

In an attempt to recover its poise from last season’s bizarre and unsatisfying narrative arc, “Homeland” moves the show overseas where Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) is the CIA Chief in Kabul, making a critical decision when her counterpart in Islamabad delivers urgent intelligence on a high-value target. Back in the US, Saul (Mandy P🍃atinkin, right) struggles to adjust to the private sector. Meanwhile, Quinn (Rupert Friend) spirals out of control and a disgraced former case officer reveals disturbing new information.

3. Gotham

Detectives Gordon (Ben McKenzie, left) and Bullock (Donal Logue) track down a vigilante who is killing Gotham citizens by attaching them to weather ballo𝄹ons. Meanwhilꦏe, Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor) gets a new job close to an influential figure in the underworld. Co-starring Jada Pinkett Smith as Fish Mooney.

4. The Flash

Tuesday, 8 p.m., CW

Barry Allen (Grant Gustin, above👍) was just 11 years old when his mother was killed and his father was falsely convicted. Raised by Detective Joe West (Jesse L. Martin), the father o♈f Barry’s best friend, Iris (Candice Patton), Barry has become a brilliant CSI investigator obsessed with a particle accelerator that explodes when it is unveiled, causing a freak storm. Barry is struck by lightning. After nine months in a coma, he awakens to find the accident has given him the power of super speed. Thrilled with his new powers, Barry learns how to control them. However, keeping his secret from Iris is more difficult, especially when Joe’s new partner, Eddie Thawne (Rick Cosnett), catches her eye.

5. American Horror Story

Wednesday, 10 p.m., FX

We’ve all seen what “American Horror Story” 🔜can do for the careers of actresses of a certain age: it can win them Emmys. Both Jessica Lange and Kathy Bates (left) took home awards in August for their work on the last installment, “Coven.” They are back, along with Sarah Paulson, for “Freak Show,” which moves the action from New Orleans to Jupiter, Florida in 1952. Lange plays Elsa Mars, the eccentric — you don’t say! — purveyor of a circus sideshow on its last legs as television begins to capture the nation’s attention. When the Jupiter police make a terrifying discovery at a local farmhouse, Elsa sees an opportunity that will lead her troupe either to salvation or ruin. Bates is Ethel Darling, the bearded lady. Paulson has a dual role, as the two-headed Bette and Dot Tattler. With Angela Bassett, Frances Conroy and Denis O’Hare.

6. Black-ish

Wednesday, 9:30 p.m., ABC

Dre (Anthony Anderson, far right) sets out to expand Andre Jr’s (Marcus Scribner, right) social circle to include more black kids after he discovers Andre Jr. is clueless about “the nod.” Meanwhile, hoping to inspire little Diane (Marsai Martin) to become a doctor🦹, Rainbow (Tracee Ellis Ross) takes her to work at the hospital on what turns out to be the worst day ever. With Laurence Fishburne as Pops.

7. How To Get Away With Murder

Thursday, 10 p.m., ABC

Annalise (Viola Davis) helps suburban soccer mom Paula Murphy (Ana Ortiz) get released from jail after an arrest for a misdemeanor. Just as Paula is about💞 to walk free, she’s arrested again by the FBI in connection with a felony murder. Annalise and her students must now prove her innocence, which will depend on the testimony from another suspect in the case. Meanwhile, the Middleton University president a🍃sks Annalise to represent Griffin O’ Reilly, the star quarterback who has also been linked to Lila’s disappearance, but she’s unable to make a decision until she is convinced that her husband, Sam (Tom Verica), isn’t connected to the case. Co-starring Alfred Enoch.

8. The Knick

Friday, 10 p.m., Cinemax

Thackery (Clive Owen) winds up in the slammer on this week’s “The Knick.”Mary Cybulski

Desperate for liquid cocaine🧔, Thackery (Clive Owen) breaks into a pharmacy and is arrested, forcing Robertson (Grainger Hines) to come up with hush money. Meanwhile, Nurse Lucy Elkins (Eve Hewson) goes to extremes to get drugs for an increasingly insane Thackery, whose plea𝕴 for an advance from a seller of patent medicines falls on deaf ears. Gallinger (Eric Johnson) despairs as his wife’s behavior becomes more erratic and dangerous; Cornelia (Juliet Rylance, above left) and Edwards (Andre Holland, above right) don’t see eye-to-eye on a solution to their shared dilemma.
