Pepsi, SodaStream deal comes after Super Bowl ad

What a difference a year makes.

Home carbonation maker SodaStream earlier this year produced a television ad tꦫhat was to air during the last Super Bowl. The spot slammed giant soda rivals Coca-Cola and PepsiCo for producing too much sugar and too many bottles, Josh Kosman reports.

In it, actress Scarlett Johansson says she and SodaStream are going to change the world. “Soꦚrry, Coke and P🐲epsi,” she adds at the end.

Fox — airing the S🌸uper Bowl — banned the ad, believing it was too tough on its rivals.

PepsiCo is the NFL’s official soft drink.

On Friday, PepsiCo and SodaStream ann꧒ounced a deal to launch Pepsi soda caps (or syrup pods) made for the newer SodaStream machines.

Perhaps SodaStream will run an ad for this y๊ear’s Super Bowl in whꦫich it just says, “Sorry, Coke.” That might be easier for the NFL to swallow.
