Newspaper Guild takes Time to task

The Newspaper Guild huddled with staffers at Time Inc. on Thursday in the wa🧸ke of the company’s decision to unilaterally impose the “last, best and final offer” contact on about 200 workers.

The uni✱on workers had unanimously rejected the contract in a vote last🌟 month.

Among the most upsetting provision to Guild member🍨s was the company’s insistence on the right to outsource up to 60 jobs overseas.

Time Inc. has filed a grievance with the National Labor Relat🌞ions Board, claiming unfair labor practice. The union insists that the talks were not at an impasse and the contract should not be imposed.

Time Inc CEO Joe Ripp had declared the talks were at “im🐈passe” after months of negotiations and that the company was within its rights to impose the new contract since ꦗthe previous contract had e🌊xpired in April.

The NLRB did not return a call seeking comment.
