Arri🎃ving at her film premiere in a chauffeur-driven Mercedes, walking the red carpet with producers Will Smith and Jay Z — it’s a dog’s life for Marti, the golden retriever-chow mix who stars as Sandy in the new “Annie💮.”
The 6-year-old female was rescued from 🧜the Adopt-a-Dog shelℱter in Armonk, NY, by trainer Bill Berloni.
He says film director Will Gluck had a series of requirements for the new Sandy: she had to be female, able to spin in circles on cue and look different from the scruffy Sandys of the past. Berloni cast terrier mixes for both the original Broadway ♎show an☂d the 2012 revival. (The 1982 “Annie” movie starred an otterhound.)
Marti was the 16th dog to audition, and, with her fluffy c⭕how hair trimmed down, she scored the role.
Since “Annie” wrapped, Marti has made her theater debut in the🌠 off-Broadway pl🍰ay “The Open House.”
“Hopefully, she’ll work a litt✤le bit more before she retires,” Berloni says.
