Cops used barricades as weapons during Occupy protest: suit

An Occupy Wall Street protester is suing the city ā€” and 91 individual copąµ©s ā€” claiming they wielded metalšŸ¬ barricades like weapons to injure demonstrators.

Self-styled ā€œcitizen journališŸØstā€ Robert Pluma, 34, says he went to Zuccotti Park on Dec. 31, 2011 to ā€œwelcome in the New Year with hopeful reflection upon the efforts of OWS,ā€ according to his Manhattan Supreme Court suit.

Pluma was filming when he got caught in a crowd and cops ā€œused metal fencing as a weapon to push the crowd,ā€ courtšŸŒœ papers state.

The Brooklyn resident was pepper-spą½§rayed by an Officer Vegaā›¦ and pushed to the ground, fracturing his hand, the suit says.

Pluma says the other šŸ…ŗ90 named officers shouldā€™ve prevented the attack, according to court pź¦—apers.

His attoź¦¦rney, David Thompson, said he learned the copsā€™ identities largely through video footage.

ā€œItā€™s about finding people who are responsible aą¹„nd caź§…lling them into account,ā€ Thompson said.

In Plumaā€™s companion federal case, city lawyers say the case should be dismissed because Pluma canā€™t show the use of barricades as batterišŸ’§ng rams was a matter of NYPD policy.
