Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver said Thursday that he expects to be re-elected to his leadership post next week despite being under federal investigation for taking unexplained paym♍en🍸ts.
“Members of my conference have confidence in me, and I don’t think it’s appropriateꩵ📖 to comment on this matter,” he said when asked about the investigation after Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s inauguration.
The payments, from a small law firm specializing in challenging property tax ass♌essments, were not listed on his disclosure forms, as required by law.
Silver brushed off questions on the probe Thursday, then, as if nothing were amiss, laid 🍸out his legislative goals, inclಞuding his plan to raise the minimum wage.
“People should not have to worꦫk a whole week and go home poor,” he said.
He claimed thꦇe state ꦉhas never been in better hands.
“I t☂hink we’re doing great. I🐭 think New York is doing much better than it has been doing,” he said.
“We’re better off now than we w🔴ere four years ago, to borrow a campaign slogan or reverse it, actually.”
