Travolta to play lawyer Shapiro in FX OJ drama

John Travolta will return to TV for the first t𝓀ime since his days on “Welcome Back, Kotter” — as ♐OJ lawyer Robert Shapiro.

Travolta has been cast as the “Dream Team” attℱorney in “The People v. OJ Simpson,” a 10-part FX miniser🦄ies about Simpson’s murder trial that begins production this spring in LA. It’s based on Jeffrey Toobin’s book,

Travolta will also serve as one of the producers on the series, which has already cast Cuba Gooding Jr. as Simpson, Sarah Paulson (“American Horror Story: Freak Show”) as Marcia Clark and former “Friends” star David Schwimmer as attorney Robert Kardashian.

It marks Travolta’s first series role since he rocketed to fame nearly 40 years ago as dim-bulb “sw🥃eathog” Vinnie Barbarino on “Welcome Back, Kotter,” which aired on ABC from 1975-79. Travolta appeared in only eight episodes during its final season due to his growing ♋movie stardom.
