Rapfogel cohort renegotiates plea deal

An insurance company execꦍutive who conspired with the former head of a leading Jewish charity to fleece it of nearly $7 million renegotiated his plea deal Wednesday so he could 💃serve his sentence in city jail instead of state prison, authorities said.

Century Coverage owner Joseph Ross, 59, pleaded guilty in December of 2013 to scheming with William Rapfogel, the ex-CEO of the Metropolitaওn New York Council on Jewish Poverty​​, to overcharge the agency for insurance then split the proceeds among their cronies.

Ross agreed to pay back over $1.5🤪 million and serve 18 months in prison as🍒 part of the deal.

But his attorney Ben Brafman was able to negotiate𓃲 more favorable terms with the state Attorney General’s office., which is prosecuting the case.

Ross, who h🐠ad copped to grand larceny and money laundering in the first degree, was allowed to replead to the same charges ꧂in the third degree Wednesday in Manhattan Supreme Court.

When he’s formally sentenced March 9th, he’ll serve his time in a cushier city jail instead of state prison, authorities said.

Rapfogel, who♎ has also taken a plea deal for the shame🤡ful scam, was a longtime pal of disgraced former Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver.
