Robert Durst had pot, .38-caliber revolver when he was arrested

NEW ORLEANS — Robert Durst will sit in a Louisiana jail until at least next week on charges he had more than five ounces of pot and a .38-caliber revolver stashed in his room at the French Quarter hotel where he was arrested for the cold-case murder of a friend with information about his wife’s unsolved disappearance.

Magistrate Judge Harry Cantrell ordered Durst — who was heard whispering that he “killed them all” during Sunday’s climax of a six-part HBO documentary about him — held without bail pending another hearing on Monday.

Defense lawyer Dick DeGuerin said: “Our position is we want to have a hearing as quickly as possible to contest the original arrest.”

“We believe the warrant out of (Los Angeles) was based on a TV show and not on actual facts. We want to bring this to a head as quickly as possible and to go to LA and face charges there,” DeGuerin added.

Durst, 71, appeared disoriented in court and ha🤪d to be helped from a glass-enclosed holding cell to stand before the jud🔯ge.

On Saturday evening, Durst was nabbed༺ by an FBI Fugitive Task Force in the lobby of the JW Marriott hote🔥l, where he was staying under an assumed name.

The notorious New York City real estate scion was busted on a warrant charging him with first-degree murder in the Dec. 23, 2000, shooting of Susan Berman, a mobster’s daughter who befriended Durst in college.

Berman also served as his spokeswoman following the 1982 disappearance of Durst’s wife Kathie, and Westchester authorities who were re-investigating that case wanted to interview Berman at the time of her death.

On Monday night, Durst was slapped with additional, local charges of illegal possession of a firearm by a felon, and possession of a firearm in the presence of aܫ co🤡ntrolled dangerous substance.

Jane Robinson, a spokeswoman for the LA District Attorney’s Office, said: “Until Mr. Durst is officially released by authorities in New Orleans, it’s clear we won’t be able to bring him back to face charges in Los Angeles. At this point, we do not have a timeline for that.”

The murder charge against Durst includes special, death-penalty allegations that he shot her because she was a witness and while he was “lying in wait.”

California’s death penalty is currently on hold pending the appeal of a ruling that found it unconstitutional.
