Bill to change ‘elite school’ admission standards dies in committee

ALBANY —♋ A bill that would have allowed the city to change admissions criteria at eight elite public high schools in an attempt to add more black and Hispanic students died in committee Tuesday.

The Senate Education Committee didn’t take up the bill prop🅘osed by Sen. Adriano Espailla🌺t (D-Manhattan) when it became clear it didn’t have the votes to pass.

Espaillat said he intended to amend his bill and ꦡtry to 🉐find “a solution going forward.”
