“Downton Abbey” darling Lily James leads the cast as impulsive romantic Natasha Rostova with Paul Dano (“Little Miss Sunshine”) as the awkward Pierre Bezukhov. Gillian And🌳erson (“The X-Files”) and Jim Broadbent (“Moulin Rouge”) co-star.
The series — which😼 is co-produced by The Weinstein Co. and the BBC — will simulcast on the three networks in the US in 2016.
“War and Peace” centers on five aristo🥃cratic families, set against the backdrop of the French invasion of Russia in 1812 and the effect of the Napoleonic era on society.
The influential novel was previously adapted into a 1956 film starring Audrey ﷽Hepburn and Henry Fonda.
