‘Crow’ news is bad news for Jose Cuervo in battle vs. Jim Beam

Bourbon maker Jim Beam can stop tequila company Jose Cuervo from expanding i♏ts use of a crow icon, a Manhattan j🥀udge has ruled.

Justice Melvin Schweitzer said Cuervo violated an agreement with Beam over the placement of the image of a black bird on its bottleജs.

Bo𒈔th Jim Beam’s “Old Crow” bourbon and Cuervo had display💃ed the crow on its products since the 19th century.

“Indeed ‘cuervo’ is the Spanish word for ‘crow,’ ” the 𓆉Manhattan Supreme Court judge wrote in his ruling released Monday.

But it wasn’t until 1993 that Jim Bea🅠m sued Cuervo over the similarity.

The liquor companies resolved the trademark dispute in a 1👍9ꦅ97 settlement.

The deal said Cuervo promised it would not “increase in proportionܫ or prominence to the rest of the label.”

Despite the deal, Cuervo spread the crow icon to the top of the cork, the foil neck wrap, and shoulder of the 𝓡bottle.
