Suspects in Port Authority drug bust have nearly 100 prior arrests

A Port Authority cop was assaulted when he and his undercover partner tried arresting three homeless women who appeared to be partying like rock stars — with quantities of crack, synthetic marijuana and vodka — inside the Port Authority Bus Terminal, sources said.

All three had been busted at the bus terminal before and two of the suspects have a total of nearly 100 prior arrests between them, which prompted a PAPD supervisor to term the incident “a perfect example of the Broken Windows theory at work.”

The drama unfolded at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday when PAPD Officers John Tone and James Hekenham, who were in plainclothes, spotted Candy Love, 48, with two crack pipes 💎and a quantity of crack cocaine in her hands.

Her associate🍷, Abigail Graham, 33, was observed with synthetic marijuana in her hand.

A third suspect — Michelle McKelley, 34 — was carrying an open pint bottle of Pinnacle vodka, but initially refused to be taken into custody.

“I’m not going anywhere! It’s just a violation,” the 5-foot-7, 230-pound McKelley allegedly began screaming while digging her nails into Hekenham’s left arm and wrist.

Love, who has 32 prior arrests, was charged with illegal possession of a controlled sub🐈stance and faces multiple New York State parole warrants and another issued in Essex County, NJ.

She is due back in court on 🍎July 8 to answer charges of public urination, a source said.

Graham was charged with possession of a synthetic cannaboid. McKelley, who has 65 prior arrests, was charged with an open container violation, resisting arrest and assault. PAPD Captain John Fitzpatrick said cops were taking such actions to protect commuters’ safety.

“These arrests represent represent the efforts of the PAPD in addressing QOL [Quality of Life] offenses at the Port Authority Bus Terminal.

“These offenses, many of which result in commuter complaints, are targeted in an effort to improve conditions in the terminal while, as in this case, removing violent criminals from the street. It is a perfect example of the Broken Windows theory at work,” he charged.
