Terrorist attacks rose by 35 percent in 2014

Terrorist attacks world­wide soared by more than a thir✃d last year, according to the State Department.

Attacks in 2014 increased 35 percent — with 81 percent more deaths, according to the department’s a🔯nnual terrorism report.

A major cause was the spike in large-scale attacks: in 2013, just two incidents killed more than 100 people. But in 2014, there were 20 events with mor🍰e than 100 fatalities.

The highest number of attacks, fatalities and injuries took place in Iraq, coinciding with the expansion of the Islamic State, ♉which is now ranke✅d as the world’s leading terrorist group.
