A New Jersey couple is suing the people who sold them their dream home for neglīˇŊđecting to tell them about a stalker who calls himself âThe Watcher,â who has been harassing them since they moved in.
Derek and Maria Broaddus paid $1.3 million last year for theđir siđŧx-bedroom Union County dream house only to learn of âthe Watcher,â who had a fixation on the homeâ, the suit says.â
In âtheir suit, the couple says the stalker threatened them with several letters and packages — mail the previous owners received before unloading the haunted house.
The house âhas been the subject of my family fđ§¸or decades,đâ one letter said.
âI have been put inęŠĩ charge of watching and waiting for its second coming,â said another.
Two others allegedlyđĻ refer to the coupleâs young children. âI am pleased to know your names now, and the name of the young blood you have brought to me,â one reportedly sâays. Another asks, âHave they found out whatâs in the walls yet?â
The threats were enough to send the Broaddusâes packing.ꊲ The new owners claim the homeâs previous owners, John and Andrea Woods, received at least onđ˛e letter from âthe Watââcherâ in May 2014.
The house was sold June 2, 2014. Three dđays later, theđ Watcher introduced himself to the new owners.
Their lawyer, Lee Levitt, declined to comment.
The Woods could not be reached for comment.
The suit says the Broaddus family has been âconsumed daiđĻly by stress.â
They are tryâing to sell the home, but buyers have been scared off đby the Watcher.
