Celebrities love these ex-Wall Street girls’ activewear
Gwyneth Paltrow and Jessica Alba are two fans of a 2-year-old luxury activewear line from two young women who quit their Wall Street jobs to become ballerinas — and ended up launching a new fashion brand, Carbon38.
Among its backers are famous Facebook investor twins, Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss.
Katie Warner Johnson, 30, and Caroline Gogolak, 29, the women behind Carbon38, which sells such items as stretchy flower-print leggings at prices ranging from $60 to $400, are in the midst of a new funding round, they told The Post. The company is on track to ring up $10 million in revenue in its second year.
“Caroline and I are part of a generation of women who are entrepreneurs, who are also wives and moms who like to exercise and look hot while they’re at it,” Katie said.
Katie, a summer analyst at Deutsche Bank, and Caroline, who worked at Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs, met when they danced ballet together.
The two got $20,000 in start-up funding from Start Engine and bought their URL for $1.99.
“We really believe in activewear; the new woman is dressing for the boardroom to the boxing ring,” Caroline added.
