Cynthia Nixon in counseling for ‘The Affair’

“The Affair” is adding some “Sex” appeal, casting Cynthia Nixon (“Sex and the City”) as a guest star for its upcoming second season.

The actress will play Marilyn Sanders, a direct and challenging Manhattan couples therapist who is helping Noah (Dominic West) and Alison (Ruth Wilso﷽n) repair their relationship after a period of strain, according to Showtime.

Since “SATC,” Nixon has appeared on T🌌V in “The Big C,” “Alpha House” and “Hannibal,” among other series. She was last seen in “The Adderall Diaries” with James Franco.

“The Affair” — which 🍌this season adds the perspectives of Noah’s former wife Helen (Maura Tierney) and Alison’s ex Cole (Joshua Jackson) — premieres Sunday at 10 p.m.
