North Carolina coach Roy Williams collapses during game

Legendary North Carolina head coach Roy Williams collapsed during a TV timeout in the second half of the Tar Heel𒊎🥂s’ 68-65 victory over Boston College Tuesday night.

With 🥂14:35 remaining in the contest, Williams knelt down in his team’s huddle to give directions before he collapsed on the court. Williams didn’t seem to lose consciousness during the episode, but players immediately went to ꦰhis aid.

Williams was helped off the court and into the locker room with the help of the North Carolina medical staff. The North Carolina basketball Twitter handle tweeted Williams was taken to the locker room due to dizziness, but is doing “OK.”

He later came back on the court after the game to participate in the handshake line with the🐭 Boston College coaching staff.

The 13-year coach Tar Heels and holder of 770 career victories🧜 has💞 been known to suffer from vertigo, dating to 2007.

In a postgame press conference, Williams made light of✨ the situation which he says was causedꦗ from benign positional vertigo.

“What I want to tell you is I’m alive, I’m well,” he said. “I’m kicking. I’m not well, mentally.”

North Carolina is ranked No. 9 in this week’s AP Poll and its victory over the Golden Eagles keeps the team atop the conference standings with a 9-2 record in ACC play and 20-4 overall. They hold a half-gam🥃e lead over second-place Virginia.
