The malodorous event is courtesy of the late-blooming Amorphophallus titanum – or “giant misshapen phallus” — also known as the “corpse flower.”

After 10 years of careful tending and feeding, The Bronx’s famous fetid flow💃er is bursting in all its glory, emitti𒐪ng a full-body odor that is much like that of rotting flesh.

“Whenever this rare plant blooms, it causes a sensation,” thꦦe Garden’s website said, noting that it hasn’t had a flowering titanum since 1939.

🌸Native to western Indonesia, and evolved to attract pollinating flies, the putrefying purple bloom is only at its peak for 24 to 36 hours.

The Garden horticultꦺuralists spotted a bud on the flower on July 15 and moved the plant to public display three days later. The ginormo♒us, reeking specimen is now attracting crowds at the Palms of the World Gallery.
