Cyclist gets leg amputated after hit-and-run

A 54-year-old stagehand who works Adele concerts needed his right leg amputated after he was struck by a hit-and-run dump truck while riding his bicycle in Midtown early Friday, police sources and family member🔯s said.

John Carr, a Syracuse resident who was in town this week doing carpentry work on the stage at Madison Square Garden ꦰfor the superstar singer, was pedaling south against traffic on Eighth Avenue about 3:30 a.m. on his brand new bike when the d🌠ump truck barreled into him at the intersection of West 40th Street, police said.

The dark-col🐓ored truck was stopped at a traffic light and once it turned green, it accelerated and struck Carr,ꦏ cops said.

Sources said the driver may not even be aware the driver hit the victim. The driver kept going east on 40th Stree𒆙t after the collision.

Carr, who was in the crosswalk a🐠t the time, was th꧋rown from his bike and sustained a serious leg injury.

He was rushed to Bellevue Hospital🍨 in critical condition and doctors were forced to amputate his right leg 🐼below the knee, sources said.

“This is a game changer…we don’t know if he’ll ever be able to go back to work,” his sister Jill Thompson told The Post, adding that Carr’s other leg is “crushed and fractured.”

His wife Jill, who was getting ready to fly into New York City to be by her husband’s side, said,“We need to keep the pressure on for any witnesses, anyone who took down any license plates, anyone who can help identify the vehicle-finding the driver would help bring closure to wh𒁃at happened.”

Carr,🅷 who help put the stage together for performers, has worked for the Rolling Stones, Neil Diamond and Bon J🅰ovi over the years, his sister said.

Investigators are scouring the area for survei🅘llance footage.

The driver of the dump truck remained at-large.
