Celeb party planner David Monn’s guilty pleasure

A-list party planner David Monn has a dirty little secret. “I’v𝔉e had dinners where I served fried chicken and everyone’s like, ‘Wow, you’re the greatest!’ and ask if it’s my grandmother’s recipe and did I soak it in milk and all that stuff,” he tells Threads.

“The truth is: Popeyes. You serve the biscuits, they’re the𝄹 greatest in the world, then the chicken, and then maybe you go to Beecher’s Cheese shop to pick up the balsamic-mushroom macaroni and cheese that is to die for.”

“It’s all about the presentatio🎶n,” says Monn, whose new book, (Ven🌳dome Press), is out now.

Monn has created whimsical, drop-dead-gorgeous events for everyone from Mar𝓡tha Stewart to Li🌺zzie Tisch, who asked the event planner extraordinaire to make her son a custom Snapchat filter for his bar mitzvah last year.

“My first response was, ‘Oh my God, what is this?’ ” Monn admits with a laugh.
And while he warns that party-food trends come and go (out: ♛sushi bars; in: caviar and champagne; forever staple: pigs in blankets), a higꦏh-flying fête is always in style.

“I’ve desperately wanted to have a party on an A380 that starts in New York and ends in Paris,” says Monn. “We’d outfit the [plane] for dinner and dancing, and you wake up having breakfast in Paris.”
Just don’t expect Monn to be dancing up a storm 30,000 feet in the air this New Year’s Eve.
“The last thing I want to do is go to a party. 🍬I create them and I li🃏ke to see them come to life, but I very, very rarely have downtime,” says Monn, who plans to host friends for baked potatoes, chili and caviar.

“I want to start the evening by 7 a꧂nd be in bed by 11.”
