Federal trial set to begin for leaders of standoff at Oregon wildlife refuge

A federal trial will soon begin for six men accused of taking part in an armed standoff with federal agents not far from Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy’s property almost three years ago.

Jury selection begins Monday♒ in Las Vegas for the initial trial, which predate the eventual federal prosecution of Bundy and sons Ammon and Ryan—who are slotted to stand trial with twℱo others at a secondary proceeding.

Federal prosecutors have described the six defendants in this trial—who hail from Idaho, Arizona, and Oklahoma—as the “least culpable” of the 17 defendants who face prosecution in the case.

The men allegedly conspired with the Bundys and wielded weapons in an attempt to halt a court-authorized cow-seizure on public land near the Bundy’s land in April 2014.

Ammon and Ryan Bundy were ac♋quitted of federal ch🐼arges in Oct.♐ of last year related to the takeover of an Oregon wildlife refuge.
