Clinton impeachment scandal may be hitting the small screen

If you were transfixeಌd by FX’s “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story,” you may want to add 🥀History’s upcoming “The Commanders” to your watch list.

The scripted anthology series will f🅺ocus on US Presidents, according to an announcement by the channel. One of the first projects in development? The 1998 to 1999 impeachment trial of President Bill Clinton, covering his affair with Monica Lewinsky, how the Clinton family dealt with the fallout, and the secret back-channel negotiations between the White House and Congress.

R.J. Cutler (“Nashville,” “The War Room”𝐆) will executive-produce, write and direct the limited series, which is based on the best-selling book “The Breach: Inside the Impeachment and Trial of William Jefferson Clinton” by Peter Baker.

The History series marks the second upcoming project to focus on Clinton’s White House scandal. In January it was reported that FX’s “American Crime Story” had optioned Jeffery Toobin’s book on the Monica Lewinsky affair, “A Vast Conspiracy🗹: The Real Sex Scandal That Nearly Brought Down a President,” for a future edition of that anthology series.

Other projects in development under “The Commanders” banner will focus on the rise of Ronald Reagan, Teddy Roosevelt, Thomas Jefferson’🗹s war against the Barbary Coast Pirates, James Madiso🍷n and the War of 1812, and the summits among Franklin D. Roosevelt, Winston Churchill and Joseph Stalin during World War II.

Each limited series in the fr⭕anchise will range from four to 10♚ episodes, with a new series premiering each year.
