Police have identified theź¦ two women murdered when a pair of gunmen opened fire on a crowd in the courtyard of a Brooklyn housing development, poliź¦Æce said.
Chynna Battle, 21 and Shaqwanda Staley, 29, were among the group of around 20 people who were drinking and smoking from a hookah while hanging out at the Stuyvesant Gardens Houses in Bedford-Stuyvesant when the shooters opened fiš§re around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Staley was struck several times in šthe back while Battle took a bullet to the head and was found faceā down on a bench, police sources said.
The two unidentifš„ied male suspects fled the scene as people scrambled for cover amid the chaos.
Police said the motive behind the shooting is still unclear but it’s being eyed as possibly gang related.
Police said Battle and Staley were likely innocent bystanders and may not have been the shooter’s intended targets.
