Police release footage of suspect in tourist stabbing

Police have released surveillance images of the man suspected of stabbing a Brazilian tourist who was taking pi♏ctures near Central Park over the weekend.

The suspect, who is believed to be homeless, stabbed 23-year-old Martins Machato in the back as he was snapping photos of a massive silver globe sculpture outside a Columbus Circle ꦜhotel on W. 60th St. between Broadway and Central Park West around 1:20 p.m. Sunday.

The attacker then calmly walked away without sayi𝔉ng a word, police said.

Machato, who was on a layover in New York before catching a flight to 🦂Rome, was hospitalized in🌊 serious condition.
